I cleaned my room today. Holy fuck. It was more or less a war zone in which the fascist group Dirty Laundry and their counterpart Last Semesters Notes Polaroid Film Jelly Beans and Thumb Tacks United combined forces to combat Cleanliness and Overall Sanity. But I intervened, and thank god for that.
Shawn Lawrence is now a resident of Regina again and it's nice. I guess I sincerely missed him, which is weird for an emotionally divorced shut in. I spent last night playing Rock Band and Mario Party 7 (Waluigi is the greatest character, by the by) in an apartment whose door is covered in studded leather.
It's odd, I have literally unlimited access to music and work in one on of the few remaining strongholds of physical music, and yet I find it harder and harder to listen to music consistently. Maybe this will change. Hopefully.
In spite of that last comment, one band I have found myself going back to almost regularly for the last week has been Port O'Brien. I have no clue who, but they remind me of someone and it's frustrating not knowing who.
So, the winner of British Idol recorded a cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah as her single or whatever. And everyone was all like, "Oh man this is awesome! Let's go buy it!" But then some people were like, "Jeff Buckley did a way better version of this, let's go buy his album!" And then of course, people were all like, "Leonard Cohen did it first and best!" and went out and bought his album. Basically making Leonard Cohen number one, two and three on the UK charts right now. Also, some ladies snake tried to eat her.
Here are some videos I guess.
This video is mostly here to help me comprehend how fucking amazing that show would have been. Also, the 13 trumpets is kinds of incredible/ridiculous.
It is really is, isn't it?

A fabulous destiny.
I am sick, well sick-ish, it could have been a lot worse. Work, where you primarily walk around carrying awkwardly shaped plastic cases in what is essentially an over sized cluttered filing cabinet is not much fun when it hurts to move. Alas! Four CDs came in for me over the course of yesterday, this was a nice bright spot in my day. Other wonderful bright spots were talking to a crazy boy from Australia, watching Death At A Funeral with my family, (Wash is British?) and then Bravo! showed Amelie which for some reason I don't own and I love that movie, it is probably the only movie that could give Lost In Translation a run for it's money as my favourite movie.
Class starts on Monday, this is exciting. This semester is 66% philosophy! Hurrah! Possibly more exciting is that the fourth season of Battlestar Gallactica is out on DVD very soon and Synecdoche, New York is playing at the RPL just as soon.
Less exciting is that I have not read a single book during this whole break, I am disappointed in myself. Also, I haven't heard a new podcast in weeks!

Waltzing Matilda whipped out her wallet
I watched The Squid and the Whale yesterday. While it remains one of my favourite movies, it is no less unsettling. Noah Baumbach has the uncanny ability to create some of the most nakedly human and overwhelmingly awkward moments to ever be captured on film. Miranda July is the only person who I can think of coming close.
Is it weird that Christmas is in three days? I'm not the only one who thinks this is weird, right?
When I started writing this I felt like I had a lot to say, but that seems to have evaporated. So when in doubt post videos, right?
I am quite disappointed in Regina for not having this movie be released here...oh well. I guess I'll wait.
This is easily one of my favourites, and really only The Postal Service is more relaxing and comforting.
Well...and this one.
Oh and we can't forget this...
I don't want to go outside. Nor work until midnight.

An overwhelming feeling of oneness.
I was sitting in Campion next to the curved windows, listening to Brian Eno's Ambient 1: Music for Airports thinking about how when and if I have a child, this is what I'll play to put her/him to sleep; when I looked out the window and saw the snow falling ever so softly and gracefully and for less than a second I was overcome with an emotion I can't describe or recreate or even imagine.
